Greetings Earthlings. It’s serious doom & gloom time once again on The Enviro show. Us tree-huggin’, dirt-worshippin’ WHMP green team rejects are all over the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) final report released last week. Thousands of international scientists state it is "unequivocal", climate change will bring "abrupt and irreversible changes." What they don't say is that it's time to pull the plug on industrial civilization! We’ll gnash our teeth and moan over that later, as well as blame the Bush regime for just about everything. Also, Ted Glick calls in once again to update us on the Climate Emergency Fast as well as the December 8 International Day of Climate Action, but first it’s time for.........Revenge of the Critters! Wild boars invade Wurtzburg!

Then its the Enviro Show Echo Chamber. We found this from the AP: A Carbon Monitoring for Action database, or CARMA has been created. Check the database for a mega CO2 emitter near you! ALSO, we checkout this New York Times editorial on the IPCC final report. Glen will comb through that in search of any hidden gloom. That bit of liberal Bush bashing naturally takes us to...

Yes! There’s that sound again. It's the Darth Cheney dirge. Glen, what’s the countdown? OK, by now you Enviro Show enthusiasts may have noticed we make little or no distinction between Darth Cheney and the boy emperor, right? That’s because it’s a package deal! Buy one...err...sort of...get the other free! Sooo, speaking of the other, whose name shall not be spoken, check this out: U.S. power company linked to Bush is named as top polluter. Surprise! Opps! We mentioned his name.

"O, Exxon!" by That Guitar Man, David Ippolito will segway us into the Enviro Show Question of the Day. I know we've said that in the past, but this time we may actually play those clips.

"Turn towards peace" by Jerusha Korim takes us over & out. Until next time, remember: listen to your Mother!

Greetings Earthlings. It's the War against Nature meets the War for Oil on The Enviro Show. Ted Glick, who is on the second month of the Climate Emergency Fast, calls-in about the upcoming No War, No Warming action in Washington, DC on October 21st and 22nd. Also, Kate Sowder Zalzal, a Masters of Science Candidate at the Umass Climate System Research Center, who is conducting paleoclimate studies in the Canadian High Arctic, joins us to discuss some of the science behind the climate crisis. If you’re anywhere near Montague during the show you might want to drop in at The Grange just off the Common in Montague Center. From 7 to 9pm Tuesday night there’s a meeting about the Nestle corporate threat to the Montague Aquifer. Also, we’ll delve into the news on The Enviro Show Echo Chamber, but first it’s time for......Revenge of the Critters! Keeping with the military theme: Flipper armed and dangerous!

We warned you it was coming, now it's official from the BBC: "Warming opens Northwest Passage". Of course the big news last week was Al Gore and the IPCC receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. Run Al, run! And this from Grist: Think outside the bottle campaign kicks off! Also, U.S. Interior Department slammed on climate data.

Following our conversation with Ted Glick, it's on to our interview with Kate Sowder Zalzal.

This Dam Nation Enviro Show

· [theme]
· INTROS Greetings Earthlings. We return to the subject of water here on the all wet Enviro Show, this time with a view toward its’ imprisonment. Cleo Woelfle-Erskine, editor of the book “Dam Nation” calls-in to comment on “dispatches from the water underground”. We return to the machinations of the evil one, Darth Cheney and his minions. Also, we’ll checkout the Enviro Show Echo Chamber, but first it’s time for…..
· [clip: twilight zone]
· Revenge of the Critters! Mum KO’d by sweet-toothed giraffe. Is it a tall tale?
· [music: “Ocean Song”, Colleen Kattau from “Inhabited Woman”]
· In the Enviro Show Echo Chamber we repeat this recent story from Grist: Park Service rules allow 540 snowmobiles a day into Yellowstone, watch out Yogi Bear!
· [clip: Darth Cheney theme]
· There it is again! Glen, what’s the countdown today? How much more evil can we endure?? OK, the Empire continues its War against Nature. Rep. Henry Waxman reveals DOT officials and White House lobbied against California's vehicle-emission standards. ALSO, the Empire puts on a climate dog & pony show, fooling no one but the dwindling faithful few, after the boy emperor skipped the recent UN climate talks. The good news is that the people are NOT amused. Protests at the State Department, where the show took place, stirred the climate crisis pot last week. Go to: http://www.climateemergency.org/

Greetings Earthlings. To start we have Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. on the phone to talk about the Cape Wind project that mainstream enviros are attempting to ram down our collective throat. We go right to the interview at the top of the show, after which we submerge ourselves into the troubled waters surrounding this popular privatization scheme. Later, we’ll open the phone lines and get your opinion and have a bit of ..err...back-n-forth? Then we get another from David Kroodsma, celebrating the finish in the first leg of the Ride for Climate.

Then, of course, it's time for the...Revenge of the Critters! Great White tries kayak for lunch! You can tell there's a nautical theme here, right?

Next, Robert Lucas' "Green Energy Blue" takes us to our Cape Wind free-for-all! We'll take a whack at the Massachusetts Ocean Act (S.2281) and its’ assault on the long-standing Massachusetts Ocean Sanctuary Act. Also, Greenpeace spins with the worst of them! AND, deeper water windmills? Sounds like their getting’ in over their heads to us! D.O. takes a piece out of Mass Audubon’s ambiguous position on Cape Wind. Then it’s time to open the phone lines and talk about industrial seascapes! WARNING: Everyone on this show thinks Cape Wind SUCKS!

In The Enviro Show Echo Chamber we have this piece from Grist (lifted from Reuters) on the U.S. Navy’s War on Terrorist Whales (told you there was a nautical theme). By this time in the show David may call from the other coast and scold us for our stand against Cape Wind. We'll see.

Greetings Earthlings, we trust you’ve recovered from the labors of the day. It’s the One Thousand Five hundred thirty first anniversary of the fall of the Roman Empire this Tuesday! We’ll see if what goes around comes around. Lynn DiTullio of the River Valley Market Green Team comes to these microphones with news of the new green building going up out on the north end of King Street for the River Valley Market co-op, and Chris Mason, the new Northampton Energy officer joins us to envision a greener Paradise City for the future. As usual, Amherst’s David Kroodsma calls in from the Ride for Climate. Speaking of empire, we return to chilling subject of Darth Cheney. We’ll celebrate the fall of Enemy of the Earth, Larry Craig, AND we delve briefly into the Enviro Show Echo Chamber, but first it’s time for......Revenge of the Critters! We read another episode of Bambi’s Revenge AND link to our first video edition: The Buck Stomps Here!.

OK, things are still heating up in Montague as citizens rise-up to protect their water rights. Posters are going up and chat rooms are filling up as folks prepare for the next steps in resisting the corporados from Nestle who have set their sights on the Montague Plains aquifer as a source for a corporate water bottling operation. We’ve put the latest info up on our blog, but for tonight we’re just asking you to pen a letter of protest to the Mass Fish & Wildlife Board who manage the Montague Plains Wildlife Refuge and fax it to (508) 389-7890 or mail it to: One Rabbit Hill Road, Westborough MA 01581. Tell them the Board should re-affirm its policy and indicate that Nestle cannot use public resources for private gain. The Board’s mandate is clear: preserving lands and water acquired for biological resources and habitat protection. Talking points are posted on the MontagueMA.net website.

In the Enviro Show Echo Chamber we note the just passed second anniversary of Hurricane Katrina with this encouraging story from the LA Times. Of course, the fall of Repugnican Senator Larry Craig was all over the news this past week, but let’s have a look at what WASN’T reported: the guy’s awful environmental voting record!

Pink Floyd's "Signs of Life", reminds us there’s signs of life in the old quarry out on the end of King Street. We do our interview with Chris Mason, Energy Officer for Northampton and Lynn DiTullio of the River Valley Market Green Team.

Glen! There’s the theme, what’s the count?? We'll checkout Scott Ritter’s thoughts on Why Cheney really is that bad. We couldn’t agree MORE!! (and we have a hunch you might agree as well!).

Greetings Earthlings. We’re still strapped to the torturous water wheel here on the Enviro Show. The issue just keeps goin’ round ‘n round. Tuesday night we look at what on Earth happened to water! How did it go from streams you could drink out of to stolen tap water in poisonous plastic bottles?? We’ll be getting call-ins from Miles Maiden, founder of Hydro-Photon, talking about water purity; and once again Amherst resident, David Kroodsma files another report from the Ride for Climate. Also, we’ll go on about the big public meeting last week in Montague on the potential Nestle corporate water grab. But first, it’s time for....Revenge of the Critters! You think the Repugnicans are dumping on you? Check this out: The GOP mascot literally dumps on its keeper. It’s a Karl Rove bailout special!!

The Nestle/Montague Plain potential water grab is creating a bit of dialogue on the MontagueMA website. We’ll do a reportback from last Thursday’s Public Meeting at the Montague Grange and some more serious Nestle corporado bashing. What do you think they pay us for here??

On the Enviro Show Echo Chamber: We read Saturday’s NY Times editorial on public water supplies. And, Leonardo DiCaprio’s 11th Hour picks up rave reviews. The film premiers in Boston on August 24th. More info here. Soooo, climate crisis and water wars, there seems to be a connection. SURPRIZE! We'll read an excerpt from the Washington Post.

Then we move-on to our call-ins from Miles Maiden and David Kroodsma and some general grousing about water quality and the state of the world.

Tom Neilson LIVE with his new song for the Montague Plains heard right in our studio, first time ever, goin' out to you! We’ll also check out The Enviro Show Echo Chamber. Then we’ll have a brief call-in from Will Tuttle, author of "The World Peace Diet", reminding us that meat kills, but more than we know. And, hopefully, David Kroodsma of The Ride for Climate will call-in this week from the other coast as well, but first it’s time for...Revenge of the Critters! It’s the Bulls vs. The Morons!

Greetings Earthlings, It’s something for everyone this evening. We return again to the plight of our four-legged relations, specifically those studied by UMass wildlife biologist, Malik Marjan in the Boma National Park and within the massive Southern Sudan animal migration recently featured in the New York Times. Also, it’s an extended Darth Cheney segment tonight given the recent revelations in the Washington Post and his latest machinations for the real Evil Empire. David Kroodsma phones in from the road, hopefully! The Ride for Climate finds our guy from Amherst on the outer fringes of Cheney’s home state. Careful David! He’s armed and dangerous!! As always, we’ll checkout the Enviro Show Echo Chamber and other news, but first it’s time for....Revenge of the critters! Spider invasion creeping out Austrians!

Greetings Earthlings, guess who’s poking around the Montague Plain lookin’ to privatize the public aquifer? None other than Nestle, the "good food, good life" corporados. We say: Not good! These guys are raiding public resources all over the rural U.S. We expect a call-in from Tim Simmons, Restoration Ecologist with Mass Wildlife who will tell us about the ecological aspects of the Montague Plains, and us dirt-worshippers here in the studio will talk about this latest attempt by the corporados to privatize the commons. Also, we check-in with the vile machinations of Darth Cheney once more in our Empire Notes segment And another call-in from David Kroodsma on the Ride for Climate,(checkout their You-Tube music video here), but first a special Imperial War on Terra' edition of the....Revenge of the Critters! Giant badgers terrorize Iraq!
